"Ocean Machine is a beautiful, melodic, haunting album that deals with all of humanity's feelings - loneliness, despair, love, and even life itself.

Third album from this Austrian band is a conceptual work based around great historical figures. The band has dialed down the progressive aspects while amping up the symphonic elements to their sound. Perhaps they have in fact developed a fixation with Kamelot.

"For the last 13 years, Secret Sphere have been successfully building their reputation of power metal heroes.

This is the most enjoyable Devin Townsend album I've heard in years. Townsend definitely walks to the beat of a different drummer and is constantly confounding his listeners. Epicloud is no different. The album is actually catchy in a poppy way but still plenty of metal elements.

Remixed and remastered edition comes with a bonus CD with instrumental tracks and demos.

Third album from this Danish band is a futuristic concept album based on the book Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Manticora play mega-fast power metal that mixes US and European styles. At times it has the coarsness of Iced Earth and at other times there is a more produced symphonic feel.

Ol' Leatherlungs Lars is back with his band in tow. Yet another concept album it is - filled with a hi-intensity mix of power, trash and speed. Fasten your seatbelts - this one is stuck in overdrive.

"With their seventh album, has Denmark's Manticora played it Safe? The answer could be somewhat elusive. If this means Manticora continues their efficient blend of melodic, power, and progressive heavy metal, then the answer is a strong affirmative.

One of the great vocalists in metal has finally come out with a solo album. Many of you know Lance King from his work with Balance Of Power, Pyramaze, and Avian. Of course he also runs Nightmare Records. A Moment In Chiros is a conceptual work based around the 11:11 phenomena.

Led by Anubis guitarist Douglas Skene, Hemina delivers their first full length epic, Synthetic. Here's nearly 80 minutes of traditional melodic progressive metal from the land down under.

German melodic power metal band recorded at the studio of Jan Vacik - keyboardist of Dreamscape. Nothing groundbreaking here but there is a definite Queenryche feel with vocalist Christian Grater catching a Geoff Tate vibe.

Crushing power metal from Denmark sounds like Iced Earth on amphetamines.

"While Ki was a rambling, spacious and highly melodic trip through a futuristic world of transcendental art rock and Addicted was a sparkling, sugar-drenched turbo-riff glitter bomb, the final two parts of Townsend’s latest masterwork take both him and his legion of listeners on a far less expec

This one is a bit unexpected. Evenoire is a female fronted metal band from Italy. While that conjures up memories of many bands, Evenoire has a bit of a twist. The imagery suggests this is a gothic metal band but that is only partially true.

Gorgeous reissue of the band's third album and first for Atlantic. This remastered edition comes with 2 live bonus tracks from 1990, detailed liner notes, original artwork and previously unseen photos.

First album. Has Charlie Dominici on vocals which is generally regarded as not such a good thing.

I could never profess to be an expert on this multi-faceted musician. Clearly Townsend is a visionary artist that continues to chart new directions in metal - in the true progressive spirit. Terria is his latest album and it's a winner from the get go.
$12.00 -
Remaster of the band's third album comes with 5 bonus tracks. This one has some of their best toons...

New discovery from LMP...and they are pretty good!! Juvaliant are an Austrian band that draw musical elements from both power and progressive metal. The band is fronted by vocalist Thomas Strubler who reminds a bit of Michael Eriksen of Circus Maximus as they sing in a similar range.

I always underestimate the interest in Pell. He has a hardcore following for his style of neoclassical metal. This is a 2 DVD set. Disc 1 was filmed live at the Rock Hard Festival on 5/27/07.
