A Moment In Chiros

One of the great vocalists in metal has finally come out with a solo album. Many of you know Lance King from his work with Balance Of Power, Pyramaze, and Avian. Of course he also runs Nightmare Records. A Moment In Chiros is a conceptual work based around the 11:11 phenomena. He called in his chips and brought onboard an array of talent to co-write and record with him: Jacob Hansen (Beyond Twilight, Invocator & Anubis Gate), Kim Olesen (Anubis Gate), Michael Harris (Darkology, Thought Chamber), Tore St Moren (Jorn), Fred Colombo (Spheric Universe Experience), Markus Sigfridsson (Darkwater / Harmony), Kevin Codfert (Adagio), Michael Hansen & Shane Dhiman (Phonomik), Morten Gade Sørensen (Pyramaze, Wuthering Heights), Elyes Bouchoucha, Malek Ben Arbia, Anis Jouini (Myrath) & Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson). The album was produced by Kim Olesen and Jacob Hansen. Melodic/progressive metal recommended to fans of Redemption and Dream Theater.

HUMBLE GREATNESS, FULLY REALIZED!!!., November 14, 2011 By Teddy Bates (THEPROGNUT) - See all my reviews This review is from: A Moment In Chiros (Audio CD) Its a beautiful thing to know someone who realizes there's more to music than just the sonic power it unleashes, or the electric bombast it brings. A true artist knows his music and words, have the power to motivate, herald a change, identify someones hurt, and even help that someone heal. Your true talent, lies not in your voice, powerfully majestic, as it is. Your true talent lies in the way you care for your loved ones, both friends and family. The way you take time, for a beloved, dutiful, beautiful wife, and your loved and adored children. On stage, is where you rock, take command, and for every admiring fan, conquer and win. Off stage, is where the man of faith, principle, who'd do anything for his Beloved, Cherished, Family, where the real Lance King, both ends yet begins, each day anew. You my friend, taught me, this truth. In this brief time, called lifetime, ive learned Love, isn't so much shown in what we say, to our loved ones rather it is in (for our) loved ones, what we do. If you are a fan of any of Lance's other very worthy projects (Balance Of Power, Pyramaze, Avian, Mattson, Shining Star, Defyance) this cd eclipses them ALL!!!. Backed by a veritable who's who of musicians in today's Prog/Power/Melodic Metal scene, and produced by Jacob Hansen (Anubis Gate) it draws from all his music and life experience, and features his FINEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE EVER. A Tapestry of Thought provoking lyrics, equally powerful music, from the Metallic, to the Progressive, to the heart wrenchingly hauntingly, serene. A statement of Passion, A Project with Purpose from one of the finest vocalists of this, or any generation... Lance King.... All this, and a worthy cause too, as portions of this release, will go to stop HUMAN SEX TRAFFICKING WORLDWIDE. AS A SEX ABUSE SURVIVOR, I CAN SAY... THIS CD ENCOURAGES AND INSPIRES ME. GOD BLESS THE FANS & GOD BLESS LANCE!!!!.

Umm - I liked this, I think Lance King could sing nursery rhymes and it would sound good (remember when he sang about a unicorn on the first Pyramaze disc?). I was hoping for something like the 2nd Pyramaze disc ("Legend of the Bone Carver") or something like Balance of Power circa "Perfect Balance". This really isn't either. Good, some spots are very good, but not amazing in my opinion.

  • "While Ki was a rambling, spacious and highly melodic trip through a futuristic world of transcendental art rock and Addicted was a sparkling, sugar-drenched turbo-riff glitter bomb, the final two parts of Townsend’s latest masterwork take both him and his legion of listeners on a far less expected and disorientating journey. Part three, Deconstruction, is arguably the most deranged, complex and extreme record that Devin has ever made. Fans of Strapping Young Lad will almost certainly feel at home with its bug-eyed maze of riffs and breathtaking dynamics. Fans of Devin’s more mellow work will have to grit their teeth and hold on for dear life."

  • Third album from this Swedish power metal band that slips comfortably into the Edguy, Stratovarius power metal school with a touch of true metal a la Hammerfall tossed in for good measure. Nothing groundbreaking here but if you are a fan of this sound its yet more fuel for your fire.

  • "This is not a new Lost Horizon record. There, we got that sorted out. The good news is that Daniel Heiman is finally back where he belongs: in metal. For its third outing, Harmony tapped this fan-favorite singer, but unlike recent, however successful, hijack jobs (think Michele Luppi with Secret Sphere, or further back, Urban Breed with Bloodbound), this is still one hundred percent a Swedish, religious power metal experience. After a promising start with Dreaming Awake, and a superior sophomore effort in Chapter II: The Aftermath, Chapter III at last gives us the Harmony record that I always knew the Swedes had in them. Retaining the band’s signature solemn style and subtle sense of melody, Theatre Of Redemption is bigger, better, and an overall top contender for 2014’s album of the year.Just how much has this to do with Heiman himself? Of course, hiring a man of his not inconsiderable talent is certain to lend your work that extra flavor. This isn’t to say that Henrik Båth held the band back (about as much as Mikael Dahl did/does in Crystal Eyes), but that Heiman touch is fan-favorite for a reason. The superhuman wails, the natural emotion, the unrivaled raw power, all of that bigger and better than before as well. In whatever dark corner of the music industry this man has been lurking in for all these years, he’s picked up a thing or two. A tender and soulful performance like the one on “What If” could simply not have come from him in his Lost Horizon-days. Goosebumps, ladies and gentlemen, entire flocks of geese.Logically, even Daniel freakin’ Heiman can only thrive when the songwriting is there to support him. Harmony stepped up its game considerably in this department, opting for shorter, tighter material here. Theatre Of Redemption is trademarked by sharp and poignant riffs, simple but gripping melodies, and an overdose of class. “Son Of The Morning” and the title track sound like the basic but effective kind of songs that Kamelot used to churn out in its heyday, boasting oriental effects, a mystic atmosphere, and an ominous chorus. “I gave it aaall – for – NOTHING!” More geese and whatnot. Not all of it is down and plodding, though. Introspective opener “Window Of My Soul”, the celebratory “Crown Me King”, and self-referencing closer “In Search Of” root Harmony firmly in the national style. Anyone attempting to chronicle the rich history of Swedish power metal should do well to include them. For filler tracks, to conclude, look further, because Harmony wastes no time making every single song one worthy of remembrance and appreciation. This is not a Lost Horizon record. Instead it’s the best album Harmony has ever released, and one of the best this year has seen so far. Daniel Heiman returns gloriously to be crowned as king (only to disappear, as he’s only a guest on this album), and aids Harmony in releasing its full potential. Fans of Heiman, Harmony, and (Swedish) power metal in general should purchase this blindly." - Black Wind Metal

  • This is the 2CD "Definitive Edition".  The bonus disc features an instrumental version of the album.  Perfect for karaoke! The second album from this incredible Austrian metal band. Their first album "Sunrise In Eden" was created by symphonic rock guitarist Lanvall and vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher two years ago. By fusing symphonic rock and power metal, Edenbridge has created a unique sound that we call "angelic bombastic metal". Soaring guitarwork, symphonic keys, breathtaking vocals, and a powerful rhythm section - Edenbridge has it all.

  • "TAROT is not only a card game, but also a long time running Heavy Metal band from Finland. The band was founded in the early eighties (!) by the Hietala brothers, Marco and Zachary. The first album "Spell Of Iron" was finally released in 1986. Much later Marco became famous as a member of SINERGY and of course NIGHTWISH, but he never abandoned his "baby band“. From time to time with some breaks, for obvious reasons, TAROT have released great albums which have made them a great addition to the metal scene. In 2007 Tarot signed a contract with Nuclear Blast and released the highly anticipated album “Crows Fly Black”.. The first single “You” entered the Finish charts on position # 1. One Year later in 2008 after several tours they released their first Live DVD ever. “Live Undead Indeed” also entered the Finish DVD Charts on position # 1. Now in 2010, TAROT is back in business. The hairy dudes from the town of Kuopio, county of Savo, Finland have again come up with a bunch of songs, which you will be able to hear on their eighth studioalbum titled “Gravity Of Light”. Most of the demo work for this album was done in August and September 2009 by Marco Hietala, Zachary Hietala and Janne Tolsa, the main writers of the band. The actual recordings for the album started immediately after that in November 2009. Mixing has been done by Janne and Mikko Tegelman and the mastering by Mika Jussila at Finnvox studios in January and February 2010. The album feels like meeting an old friend. Some things are the same, but your friend has gained weight. He shows new scars, and tattoos. The beard is longer and he projects a meaner and faster temper. At the same time there´s still a big heart at the center. The blood might rush to your head when your friend takes you to a weightless sauna orbiting the sun. When you hear “Gravity Of Light” you will believe."

  • New 2CD "Definitive Edition".  The second disc features the live "A Live Time In Eden" release.Third studio album picks up from where Arcana leaves off. Gorgeous soaring progressive symphonic metal with a bombastic touch. Vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher continues to develop as one of the great voices in metal. Composer/guitarist Lanvall is great at coming up with anthem-like melodies. Sabine finally meets her male counterpart match in D.C. Cooper who guests on the 9 minute epic "Red Ball In Blue Sky".
