New album clocks in near 80 minutes. No insanely long epics and the album is probably all the better for it. About as proggy as these guys have ever gotten.

New remastered edition of Sirens and The Dungeons Are Calling. Originally conceived as all of their debut album, the material was split up because it was too long for vinyl release. Jon Oliva states that this is the first time the material is appearing as it was conceived.

This one arrived at Casa Laser's Edge not long after another Italian band Solid Vision. I guess there is a resurgence of progressive metal bands from Italy and if history is a judge then it's a most welcome thing. Exawatt play progressive metal with touches of power.

Fifth album and third part of the Dragonland Chronicles trilogy from this Swedish power metal band. This is big bombastic epic fantasy metal that will be a slow pitch right down the middle of the plate for any fan of Blind Guardian, and Rhapsody Of Fire.

"A swift visit to The Murder of My Sweet's website reveals that all of the band members all look about twelve years old which is really frightening and makes one wonder how young they were when they formed in Stockholm in 2006.

Second album from German band led by vocalist D.C. Cooper. Almost sounds like a different band than the one that recorded "The Empire Of The Future". First off the production is much better . Also it sounds to my ears that D.C.

Eighth album from the Swedish masters of melancholy may well be their best. Katatonia's music is all about atmosphere and mystery - all served up with a bit of a moody and depressing feel.

"Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is the last great Iron Maiden album, reconnecting with the band's prog rock roots and reversing the signs of decline that had been evident on their previous record.

Second album from DIM finds them leaving Metal Blade and finding a more appropriate home in Napalm Records. This Spanish band is very much cut from the cloth of Epica and After Forever. In fact the production team is Sascha Paeth and ex-Epica's Ad Sluijter. Mark Jansen of Epica also guitars.

Third and by far the best album from this Austrian gothic metal band. Visions Of Atlantis basically started off their careers as a clone of Edenbridge but always suffered from mediocre vocals.

New remastered edition comes with 2 new bonus tracks recorded by Jon Oliva.

Reissue of the studio album from the prog metal forefathers - now with three bonus tracks. Sadly this will be Mark Zonder's swansong with the band. Musically speaking FWX seems to return back to the lighter progressive rock leanings of APSOG.
$15.00 -
A bit of a departure for the prog metal founders. Disconnected incorporates some of the in your face aggressiveness that Ray Alder explored on Engine with the proggier sounds of APSOG. Kind of a hit or miss affair. The high points really soar.

"The 1999 debut album from progressive metal side project founded by one of the most recognizable and respected vocalists in modern metal, Dream Theater's James LaBrie!
$ 9.60$ 16.00 -
I can't believe these guys have seven albums already. Seems like yesterday that they were putting out killer prog metal discs. Those days are pretty much gone - they have completely morphed into a thrash band with some prog tendencies.
$15.00 -
Second album from the Finnish offshoot of Burning Point. Ghost Machinery are now fronted by Taage Laiho who was formerly with Altaria. The music veers more towards traditional speedy Helloween-ish power metal but the band throws some curve balls at you.

Lance King is out...replaced by Iced Earth's Matt Barlow.

"Fortunately, part four of the quadrilogy, the blissfully laidback Ghost, will provide the perfect rest and recuperation at the end of that torrid ordeal.
