This is the most enjoyable Devin Townsend album I've heard in years. Townsend definitely walks to the beat of a different drummer and is constantly confounding his listeners. Epicloud is no different. The album is actually catchy in a poppy way but still plenty of metal elements.

"Fates Warning. These are two simple words that, over the years, have been synonymous with the subgenre of progressive metal. Indeed, the American behemoth is rightly credited with helping to create and shape the subgenre as we know it today.

"I love it when I can watch a band’s evolution from the very beginning. It’s one thing to jump on the bandwagon after the latest album, but I somehow have more attachment to a band when I discovered them at the start of their career. Myrath is one such band, and they are releasing a new album

"The band that I like to think of as DGM’s “darker half” blindsided me with a first-rate debut in 2014’s Risen, and its sophomore release follows hot on the heels of that ball of scorching black fire with a concept album concerning itself with the death of a woman to cancer, and grappling with t

"So far in 2018, a recurring theme has been bands who hadn’t quite managed to win me over in the past, finally managing to break through and impress me with their new releases. The trend continues with Italian prog band Eldritch.

This one took me a bit by surprised. Not used to seeing the Willowtip label release prog metal. Even more out of left field is that this Canadian band has Andy Tillison of The Tangent on keyboards. The band injects some jazz elements and prog rock into their sound.

"Their name is strange, Teodor Tuff, but there music is strangely interesting, even compelling, on their second disc, Soliloquy. The larger musical species here is heavy metal, heavy rock at the very least, but with enough intrigue in composition to be progressive metal.

One of the great vocalists in metal has finally come out with a solo album. Many of you know Lance King from his work with Balance Of Power, Pyramaze, and Avian. Of course he also runs Nightmare Records. A Moment In Chiros is a conceptual work based around the 11:11 phenomena.

2nd album from Norwegian prog band now signed to Elevate Records. The music stays the course featuring lots of symphonic keyboard leads, crunchy guitar riffs but this time there is a touch more agression in Sindre's vocals. Fans of the the first album will dig this one as well.

"Nightmare Records recently has signed a whole new slew of talent and DIMENSION are at the forefront of those signees, along with ETERNAL FLIGHT. I wasn't really sure what to expect from the cover art since it was a little strange; maybe Prog, maybe Power, maybe some kind of futuristic Metal?

"Sweden's Cloudscape has been around for a little over a decade now, but it wasn't until 2012's New Era that I actually discovered their music - and if their backcatalog is anywhere up to par with this album, I've sure been missing out! New Era is the band's fourth full-length, and although it i
