Metamorphosis Lab
Brian Geigner is a loooooong time customer of ours. We just discovered that he happens to be a musician signed to Ron Boots' Groove Unlimited label. Based on what Brian purchases from us I can confidently say that his taste is broad within the realm of progressive music but it does lean towards the electronic side. That's what we have here - an instrumental e-music release with a definite 70s flavor. If you are fan of Edgar Froese's solo work as well as Klaus Schulze you're about to discover something that deserves a place in your collection. Perhaps a bit like Epsilon In Malaysian Pale in that the music has a bit of an ambient quality and the music gradually unfolds. This is how I hear it. Brian says his musical influences are Heldon/Richard Pinhas, Didier Bocquet, Ian Boddy, You, Ashra and Peru. Good pedigree I would say.
I asked Brian to give me a bio to fill in some details:
"Been following the evolution of synth and prog music since the early 70’s, especially the bands who relied heavily on keyboards and synthesizers. These bands and music influenced me so much that I switched from playing bass guitar to keyboards.
Played in few bands that were liked minded but never mounted to anything.
In the 80’s the DIY home cassette phase happened and I bought my 1st multi track machine and recorded 2 cassette releases. ( funny enough I saw one of those tapes go for $250.00 on ebay) I was commissioned to write and perform a soundtrack for the 1922 file Nosferatu, which I performed live for a few years on Halloween weekend, still have the master tapes from that recording. took a break due to work schedule and this affected my recording creations for quite awhile until I was transferred to Madison Wisconsin from Milwaukee, there experienced the biggest snow storm in my life and recorded a bunch of songs during the storm, those would end up being used for art gallery openings in the future. Was transferred again to Columbus Ohio my current home and I was recording and performing for artists that I met here at gallery openings.
Got married we have a large house and my dream of setting up a recording studio (5 Cats Studio) in the basement, it takes up the entire basement in our house.
Began composing material for what I hoped would end up being released on CD (hence this CD came to light).
My studio consists of analog synths and digital synths, my latest addition is the Mellotron M4000D rack module."
Ron Boots says:
“We go back into the years of the 70’s with Brian Geigner’s – Metamorphosis Lab. Warm analog sounds, slow floating Sequences and swirls of sound effects brings a feeling of nostalgia.
His music is to be enjoyed in the quiet hours of the day!”"
