Electric jazz trio with all members having a connection to Area. Straight off - this doesn't sound at all like Area. This has a contemporary jazz sound that would not be out of place on ECM.

"This, the Chambers Brothers' coming-of-age record, was a well-timed and even better executed exercise in modern record-making. The brothers had recorded several excellent gospel-folk sides on a few labels (including CBS) in the mid-'60s.

"Though Cheap Trick's second album, In Color, draws from the same stockpile of Midwestern barroom favorites as their debut album, it was produced by Tom Werman, who had the band strip away their raw attack and replace it with a shiny, radio-ready sound.

"For those who still believe prog is a four-letter word, Caravan remain a mystery - More fool them, for they are missing out on some of the sweetest and most tuneful melodies in 70s rock, whether it be the jazz- inflected vaudeville of the title track of If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do I

Yet another quality RPI band. Seems like they grow on trees over in Italy. Apparently Cormorano has been around since the mid-70s and have now reformed to record. I think we've heard that story before and to be honest they usually seem to work out well for some reason.

Ciro Perrino has resurrected the Celeste name and he's done a superb job of keeping a sound consistent with what we are familiar with - symphonic prog rock with a pastoral feel. He breaks out the whole keyboard arsenal - Mellotron freaks will be happy.

Celeste recorded one legendary album for Grog Records back in 1976. The quartet's album was a departure from many of the Italian bands at the time. It was a prog album but with a refined feel - lots and lots of Mellotron but with a strong acoustic element.

One of the better current RPI bands going are back after a six year absence. The origins of the band date back to 1974 but didn't release their first album until 1999. This has got "the sound" - Hammond organ is ever present and some beautiful guitar leads and violin through out.

"Unfortunately, the return to the high end of the charts that Alice Cooper enjoyed with 1989's Trash was short-lived. On his similar follow-up -- another slick pop-metal effort -- Cooper no longer had the input of hit producer/songwriter Desmond Child, and worked with Peter Collins instead.
