"When Quintessence were recorded at the St Pancras Town Hall in London on March 3, 1970, the idea had been for the material to supply one side of their second album. As it turned out, that second album, Quintessence, used just a couple instrumental sections of the recording.

This one was always a curious effort - one wonders how this came about. Recorded in 1980, this is a collaboration between Patrick Moraz's multikeyboards and popular new age pan pipe player Syrinx. Kind of new agey and not so good.

One of the truly great albums of the 70s. The band developed long form compositions incorporating elements of jazz, folk, and r'n'b in a unique but lyrical way. This is music that just ebbs and flows as it jams on. Perhaps only topped by their next studio album.

Excellent melodic power metal from Sweden. It seems as though this is their second release and features a new singer, Mikael Holm who I thought was quite fine. The main man behind Winterlong is guitarist Thorbjorn Englund who adds a bit of a neoclassical touch without getting overbearing.
