""Adverse Camber" is the third release of the British band The Reasoning. It is quite short, about 40 minutes of music, and it is released in a context, the UK prog scene which is quite fertile.

Interesting album from this band based out of Jordan of all places. The music has a Middle Eastern feel but that isn't really the focus of what they do as compared to a band like Orphaned Land. The band uses a mix of clean and death vocals to good effect.

"Never wanting to stand still in his profession, Lion Music founder Lars Eric Mattsson has resurrected his Book of Reflections project. Relentless Fighter is the third album, nearly six years removed from the last.

Third album from this Swedish power metal band that slips comfortably into the Edguy, Stratovarius power metal school with a touch of true metal a la Hammerfall tossed in for good measure. Nothing groundbreaking here but if you are a fan of this sound its yet more fuel for your fire.

This one has been out of print for years and is now resurrected in a digipak. This 1980 release finds the band shortening their tunes and moving into a more commercial direction.

Musically speaking the third album is a bit odd in the sense that it picks up the sound of the first album - almost as if L'oucomballa didn't exist. Much higher energy and Jordi Soley has added organ back to his keyboard arsenal.

Should really be called gothic progressive rock. Chalice featured the vocals of Shiralee Morgan. Some bands have one hot looking female member - Chalice has two. The band also includes the equally stunning flautist Alana Probert.

Fantastic second album from this Australian gothic/progressive band. In many ways I hear similarities to White Willow but these guys are crunchier. Great vocals from Shiralee - one of my fav albums in the genre.

"Sometimes, as strange as it may sound, tragedy inspires creativity. Such seems to be the case with the latest release from Canada's Into Eternity, one of the brightest stars on the progressive extreme metal landscape.

Fifth album from this (apparently) popular power metal band from Romania. The band is fronted by Ana Mladinovici, who has a very nice voice albeit with a slight accent. She doesn't have the range of Tarja - her voice is more along the lines of Sabine Edelsbacher of Edenbridge.

"Daniel O'Sullivan's acclaimed Ulver has a tendency to traverse a truly abstract path between the realms of shoegaze, metal and black ambient, while his collaboration with Steve Moore, Miracle, remains firmly rooted in the universe of synth-pop.

Ninth album from this Swedish band. Katatonia's music shares a kindred spirit with that of Opeth and Tool. Very much emotion driven with a dark vibe through out. It doesn't come more melancholy than this one...

Second album from this New York based prog trio. The band is heavily influenced by early period Rush but elements of Yes and Kansas pop up as well. The album highlight is the near 18 minute epic "The Eternal Spring".

"It’s Canadian to do things in an unorthodox fashion. Not like there’s anything wrong with it (there isn’t), and when it comes to metal, all one needs to do is look at the long list of prominent Canadian bands and it makes sense: Voivod, Kataklysm, Neuraxis, Cryptopsy, etc., etc.
