"This young, semi-improvising power trio – Tom Hasslan (guitars), Axel Skalstad (drums) and Jørgen Mathisen (saxophone) – typify a new and invigorating movement currently sweeping across the Nordic region: hard boiled improvisation and strong instrumental personalities bolted onto rock beats and

Recorded at the Paris Jazz Festival, November 1, 1980, at the Théâtre de la Ville. A literally out of the ordinary quintet of legends gathered on this unique occasion.

"The second instalment from London Odense Ensemble digs deeper into the group's vision of what modern psychedelic jazz should sound like. Cut from the same sessions as Jaiyede Sessions Vol. 1, released last summer, Vol. 2 presents a more nuanced approach to the material.

Danish/turkish one off from this ensemble led by drummer Atilla Engin. I'm not sure I can draw a valid comparison to any other band but I'll try as its a weird, intoxicating concoction. If Return To Forever wrote music for belly dancing it might sound like this.

"Recorded early 1974 at the SWF-Studio in Baden-Baden, Germany by the same line-up, which recorded at the same time the 2nd Missus Beastly album. Improved versions of older titles and some new titles prove the bands great talent for improvisations.

"This was professionaly recorded by Radio Bremen back in 1974 and the sound quality is excellent. One of the big differences between this release and their studio albums is the addition of the great Eddy Marron on guitar.

"This was MISSUS BEASTLY's third studio album released in 1976. If you'll notice on the cover art they have the album's title as such as to look like it's the band's name, and the title of the album looks like it would be "For Missus Beastly".

Smoking fusion served up with a nice touch of weirdness in places - kind of like Return To Forever meets Zappa. Wicked keyboard work that will blow you away. This is hot poop! Highly recommended.

"With Maternity Beat, Hedvig Mollestad has surpassed herself, most significantly as a composer and arranger, and delivered her most ambitious work to date. And that´s not a proclamation to be taken lightly.

Moose Loose was a legendary Norwegian jazz rock/fusion band that cut two fantastic albums in the mid-70s. Until now no one has been able to crack the code to reissue the albums but a Norwegian reissue label got it done - and sourced it from the original master tapes.

One and done band from France that evolved into Chute Libre. Slightly more free than Chute Libre its still very much a jazz rock album but other influences crop up.

This box collects and restores two legendary mid-70s releases, both met at the time with extravagant critical acclaim but with few sales outside of Spain, and presents for the first time a set of previously unknown studio recordings by the otherwise undocumented Trio Altisent – which features me

14 years ago we received the ass kicking debut from this British jazz rock band...and then they went silent. Now 14 years later they are back in business. With the passing of bassist Mark Smith the band is reduced to two original members Daniel Biro and BB Davis.

Latest from Altrock is the second album from Italian jazz rock band Möbius Strip. While there are definitely rock elements at play this leans a bit more towards the contemporary jazz side.

"I feel some compulsion to review this album before somebody else does. It's more than a case of "I Was There", rather I was involved in a small way in putting on the gig heard here back in 1976.

" NUCLEUS were without a doubt one of the best Jazz bands around, and the UK's answer to Miles Davis.Their leader Ian Carr who played trumpet was a huge Miles fan and even wrote a Miles Davis biography. Amazing to think that both he and Karl Jenkins were in the same group.
