"Ever wonder what happened to the archetype of synth player as swaggering heavy metal hero? It’s alive and well in this latest effort from the solo band of Janne Warman, keyboardist of Finnish metal monsters Children of Bodom.

Who would have believed that Greece has one of the strongest and most fervent markets for heavy metal in the World. Not only is it a required destination for any band touring Europe but many home grown bands achieve attention from fans and the local metal media.

Italian band formerly known at The Night Watch now reconstituted with a new lineup. Ghost sounds so much like Genesis they might as well call themselves Genesis. Folks, this is a total clone job that sounds like outtakes from Nursery Cryme or Foxtrot.

Time and time again, Italy's The Watch prove they are the pre-eminent Genesis influenced band going today. Vocalist Simone Rosetti sounds just like Peter Gabriel and the band's instrumentation carefully follows the mid-70s sound. Its all original music but definitely has Genesis in its DNA.

"Taking Metal into the highest forms of progression and obscurity, the US Metal frenzy WATCHTOWER elevated Metal music into boundaries that were barely met at the time.

Tap into your memory banks. Back in the 80s and 90s there were a proliferation of electronic music artists (and ensembles) coming out of the UK. Some of it wandered off into new age twaddle and quite a bit of it was quite good - as good as their German counterparts.

2CD reissue of what was a legendary Japan-only live album from 1972. IMO, this is the prime period of Weather Report. The music is exploratory jazz rock with out any of the smooth jazz trapping that would envelop the band in later years.

"The shifts in Weather Report's personnel come fast and furious now, with Narada Michael Walden and Chester Thompson as the drummers, Alex Acuna and Don Alias at the percussion table, and Alphonso Johnson giving way to the mighty, martyred Jaco Pastorius.

"Thanks to the commercial success of Miles Davis's 'Bitches Brew' there was a lot of fusion music around in the early 1970s. Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul were an integral part of Miles's project but unlike most who followed him they managed to leave acoustic jazz behind without embracing rock.

No band in the history of modern jazz has left a more transformative legacy than Weather Report. During their lifetime (1971-1986) they elevated this uniquely American art form to an unprecedented level of critical and commercial acclaim.

One of my favorite UK prog albums of the 70s. Web was led by keyboardist Dave Lawson who later went on to play with Greenslade. Web's lineup consisted of keys, two drummers/percussionists, sax/flute, guitar and bass.

Many years ago we reissued this album on CD with new cover art. This new vinyl edition uses the original artwork. Werwolf was a symphonic rock band with female vocals. Musically there are some similarities to Eloy and Camel in places. Lots of beautiful female/male vocal harmonies.

Black vinyl edition includes the album on CD as well.

"The second album from Weserbergland represents a dramatic shift in style. The first album was an homage to the German Krautrock scene. This time they have gone back to the avant garde roots of Krautrock. Gone are the melodies and positive vibrations, Instead sound itself is the focus.
