So Mandalaband breaks up after their first album. Most of the band reforms as Sad Cafe, but leader David Rohl retained the rights to the name. He took the Mandalaband concept into a slightly different direction. He put together an all-star lineup and created a rock opera of sorts.

Underrated symphonic prog band from the UK. Many years later I saw Mandalaband guitarist Ashley Mulford play with Sad Cafe. His playing was jaw dropping. Some incredible guitarwork on display here as well.

"For long-time Marillion fans wishing the band would put out something sounding a bit more like “classic” Marillion, your prayers have been answered on With Friends From the Orchestra.

"In March 1984, Marillion released their second studio album FUGAZI, which went on to be certified Gold and reach number 5 in the UK albums charts. The classic album spawned two singles “Assassing” and “Punch & Judy,” both reaching #22 and #29 on the UK singles charts respectively.

"Marillion’s latest album With Friends At St. David’s is, as the title suggests a live interpretation of the recent studio offering With Friends From The Orchestra, an album that reworked some classic tunes with the In Praise Of Folly string quartet.

"No one knows how much time they’ve got left… sings Steve Hogarth in Care, the immaculate closing track of Marillion’s twentieth and latest album An Hour Before It’s Dark.

"An amazing and complex album that was in line or even ahead of where the competition was at the time it was made in 1970. As you likely know this is a concept album about the Roman culture that was produced by Camel's Peter Bardens who also plays some percussion.

Danish/turkish one off from this ensemble led by drummer Atilla Engin. I'm not sure I can draw a valid comparison to any other band but I'll try as its a weird, intoxicating concoction. If Return To Forever wrote music for belly dancing it might sound like this.

"When you discover a new favorite band, you want to shout their name from the rooftops. One of the perks of being a music journalist is having a megaphone to help spread the good word. Case in point: the 8-piece ensemble from Norway curiously titled MEER have just released one of the best albums

Great one-off band from France. Metabolisme recorded this album for the Crypto label in 1977. Considered one of the best French prog albums of the 70s, it carries on in the tradition of other Crypto bands...it's symphonic but has a dark veneer to it.

Vinyl edition of one of the greatest prog rock albums from Italy's golden era. Inferno is the first part of a conceptual work. It is a pyrotechnic tour-de-force of bombastic keyboard work that would make Mr. Emerson shake his head in wonder. A complete and total monster for keyboard freaks.

"A deluxe reissue on 180-GRAM VINYL of the self-produced sole album, originally released in 1977, by this excellent German progressive group with English lyrics. Minotaurus from Oberhausen in the western Ruhr area of Germany played symphonic rock in the vein of the early Genesis or Yes.

"Recorded early 1974 at the SWF-Studio in Baden-Baden, Germany by the same line-up, which recorded at the same time the 2nd Missus Beastly album. Improved versions of older titles and some new titles prove the bands great talent for improvisations.
$33.00 -
The first album from this interesting German band. If you read the bio of the band you can tell that Missus Beastly were a bit of a disorganized mess. They went through constant lineup changes throughout their history, and there were changes in sound as well.
